Between COVID, injuries and suspensions, the Saskatchewan Roughriders’ roster looks significantly different, and better, for Friday night’s home game against B-C than it did for Sunday’s loss to Toronto.
Most notably, Cody Fajardo is listed as the starting quarterback after sitting out the Argos’ loss with COVID symptoms and his banged-up left knee. Mason Fine will be his back-up with Jake Dolegala on the one-game injured list after making his C-F-L starting debut Sunday. Others coming back on the roster are wide receiver Duke Williams from a one-game suspension plus starting left tackle Terran Vaughn, cornerback Nick Marshall, defensive lineman Charbel Dabire and Canadian receiver Justin McInnis, all returning from COVID. Still in protocol is rookie O-Lineman Logan Bandy and import receiver Jakob Prall. That means Josiah St. John makes his first start of the season at left guard, while Logan Ferland shifts over to centre and Tevin Jones starts in place of Prall. And, as expected, Shaq Cooper will back up Jamal Morrow at running back with Frankie Hickson sidelined by COVID.
