Four new police recruits were sworn in as officers of the Prince Albert Police Service last week, and now they head to Regina for training at Saskatchewan Police College.
Among them is Deanna McKay, who participated in the Prince Albert Grand Council mentorship program.
A news release from the Police Service describes the program as a partnership between the PAGC and the police to recruit and prepare Indigenous people to become police officers and serve the community.
The Police Service has also previously partnered with Metis Nation – Saskatchewan on recruiting initiatives and two participants from that program were hired as new police recruits in December.
