The Government has tabled its most recent quarterly reports on losses of public money, within government ministries and Crown corporations, and it turns out that the estimated loss at a Housing Authority is more than first tabulated.
The loss reported by the Beaver River Regional Housing Authority in the Third Quarter Report is actually $92,564. The preliminary estimate was $90,745 for misappropriated rent payments.
The final investigation report has been provided to the police and the Crown and charges are pending. An insurance claim was made for the loss but the deductible costs $50,000.
Meanwhile the Ministry of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety reported that eight new cell phones were stolen from a Regina Community Correction’s office. The loss is estimated at $1,200 for all eight. The government says the matter has been reported to police and confidential data wasn’t compromised because the phones had not yet been issued.
