A young Meadow Lake man has been charged with one count of manslaughter in relation to the death of 45-year-old Allen Quintal on July 6th.

In the weekly RCMP update, police say the responded to a report of an altercation between two males outside of a home in Meadow Lake around 10:30 that night.

The 45-year-old was transported to hospital with serious injuries and died several days later.

19-year-old Jaymes Quintal was arrested and charged on August 2nd. He was released on conditions and will appear in Meadow Lake Provincial Court on August 29th.

According to weekly RCMP report, officers have investigated 19 fatal collisions between June and July of this year. Over the same time period in both 2020 and 2021, there were 16 fatal collisions.

Staff Sargeant Chad McLeod says “Many of these collisions are still under investigation so we can’t speculate on why they have occurred. Regardless, we want to take this opportunity to remind all drivers to be safe: buckle up, don’t drive while impaired or distracted, don’t speed and drive to road and traffic conditions.”
