Waskesiu-Montreal Lake RCMP have charged a 34 year old man after an alleged attempt to disarm police officer during an arrest.
An RCMP investigation on Monday determined a man and woman were inside a home on Montreal Lake Cree Nation who were under court ordered conditions not to be in the community.
The woman was also wanted on a warrant for possession for the purpose of trafficking methamphetamine.
The woman willing left the home around 2 that after noon and was arrested but the man stayed inside and officers heard a gunshot.
Saskatchewan RCMP’s Critical Incident Response Team was called to assist and attempted to have the individual exit the residence for several hours and he was seen with a firearm and a knife. Around 10 p.m. on Monday night a suspect left the home which is when he allegedly assaulted and tried to disarm an officer. The officer was not seriously injured and William Henderson of Montreal Lake is in court today facing two dozen charges in connection to the incident.
33 year old Lacey Bird of Montreal Lake is charged with fail to comply with a release order and was also arrested on the outstanding warrant.
