The province has sent out a Request For Proposals for a third party surgical provider. The Ministry of Health and the Saskatchewan Health Authority has issued the RFP to provide up to 3,000 elective orthopedic surgeries per year in Regina. The province and the SHA are looking for a stand-alone orthopedic surgery facility.
A news release from the government says the goal is to increase operating room and bed capacity for in-patient joint replacements, and a variety of day surgery orthopedic procedures, to tackle the waitlist for things like hip and knee replacements. The goal is to have the RFP awarded by this fall and service available on or before December 31st of next year.
