In the week that ended yesterday (Tues), Battleford RCMP responded to 551 calls for service including 24 assault investigations.

An 18 year old man is facing charges of assaulting a police officer in connection to Battleford RCMP responding to a disturbance late Friday night. Officers responded to a report of an intoxicated male on 17th Street in Battleford, and police say while the individual was being arrested, he struck an officer and attempted to flee.

Just before midnight last Sunday night, two 14 year old boys were arrested on the Battleford Bridge. Police were told they pulled a knife on a third male. It’s alleged three knives were recovered. The two boys are charged with assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and carrying a concealed weapon. The victim wasn’t injured.

Another of the assault investigations was initiated Tuesday when RCMP responded to a home on the Saulteaux First Nation where a victim was reported assaulted during an altercation with the suspect. Police were told a man threatened to burn the home. Thirty year old John Delorme is charged with assault, uttering threats and failing to comply with an undertaking.

Of the 551 calls for service, there were three people charged with impaired driving, ten traffic accidents, 25 mental health investigations and nine break and enters.
