Over 20 volunteers will descend on Chief Whitecap Park, south of Saskatoon tomorrow to plant 125 trees thanks to an initiative led by the Meewasin Valley Authority.
CEO Andrea Lafond says tree planting event is part of a long-standing plan laid out by the MVA.
“This is all part of the master plan that Meewasin’s been carrying out over the past few years, so usually the final stretch is replanting native vegetation. So, that area in the past had been pasteurized land, so we’re restoring biodiversity in that area.”
Lafond says the trees will create an important space for our local birds and insects.
The MVA has all the volunteers they need with the event running from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.
