Canada Summer Games come to a close today and Saskatchewan has had a big medal weekend to head into final day of competition. Rowing and earned Team Sask’s first medals of the day Saturday. Pepper Howe of Saskatoon earned rowing’s first medal of the competition by placing third in the single skull female event. She followed up her bronze medal performance by placing second in the quadruple sculls alongside Lauren Matai, Megan Kish, and Shelby Lane who train out of the Saskatoon Rowing Club.
Athletics followed adding a gold and two silvers. Jasmine Fehr and Jenna McFadyen finished first and second in the women’s 5000m and Bradyn Giraudier won his second silver of the Games, after placing second in the men’s 200m Special O.
Teddy Hudye added to his medal count with a bronze in the men’s discuss para male event. Team Sask also earned three more medals for the day: two medals in sailing finishing second and third in the 2.4 para mix event and a bronze for the men’s softball team. First thing on Sunday morning, Connor Dodds from Regina earned Team Sask another medal. Dodds raced in the single scull male, winning Bronze.
Logan Reider from Saskatoon, a dual sport athlete, was selected as Team Sask’s Closing Ceremony flag bearer for the 2022 Canada Summer Games. Team Sask’s medal count is 31 with two gold, 13 silver and 16 bronze.
