This morning, NASA’s Orion spacecract and Space Launch System rocket was to launch, with an uncrewed test flight, as part of the Artemis 1 mission to the moon, but the launch has been delayed. NASA says the mission is on hold due to a malfunctioning engine, and the earliest launch date now is possibly September 2nd.
Following this mission, a Canadian Space Agency astronaut will take part in Artemis II, the first crewed mission to the Moon since Apollo 17 in 1972. Canada’s Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry, Francois-Philippe Champagne, and the President of the CSA, Lisa Campbell, were on site in Florida for the launch.
