The first of many Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medals were presented to 70 recipients in Regina on Tuesday.

Lieutenant Governor Russ Mirasty stated in a news release that “the medal allows us to honour Her Majesty’s commitment to service and pay tribute to Saskatchewan citizens who have devoted their time and effort to serving others in Canada, Saskatchewan and their communities.

A total of 7,000 medals will be awarded throughout the Platinum Jubilee year, which ends on February 5, 2023.

Included in the first group were Saskatchewan Roughrider legend George Reed, chief medical health officer Dr. Saqib Shahab and Regina Mayor Sandra Masters.  The entire list of 70 Platinum Jubilee Medal Recipients is below:
