The investigation into a suspicious death and serious assault began when emergency crews responded to a report of two people injured near the intersection of Penner Road and Rural Road 3050 , east of Wanuskewin, early Monday morning.
RCMP say a woman was taken to hospital by ambulance with serious injuries and a 40 year old man from the RM of Corman Park was declared dead at the scene. The Saskatchewan RCMP’s Major Crime Unit says the man and woman were in a vehicle with three men. The vehicle stopped at the intersection and there was an altercation, then three men fled in a white Honda Civic. Late yesterday afternoon (Mon), officers attempted a traffic stop in Saskatoon’s Evergreen neighbourhood, but the vehicle didn’t stop, and later the occupants then fled on foot. One woman and two men were located on Marlatte Street and arrested. They remain in custody. There will be an increased police presence on Marlatte Street while police conduct this investigation.
Officers are looking for a 28 year old man, Ashtin Ritzand. Investigators say he should be considered dangerous and should not be approached. Ritzand is described as white, about 6 feet tall with a slender build, red hair and green eyes. Anyone with information is asked to contact the police or leave a tip anonymously by contacting Crime Stoppers. Saskatchewan RCMP’s Major Crime Unit is investigating with the assistance of Warman RCMP, Corman Park Police Service and the Saskatoon Police Service.
