The Saskatoon Blades open their 2022-23 W-H-L season today with the Young Guns Camp, followed by the start of main training camp tomorrow, all at SaskTel Centre. Today’s session for 2006 and 2007-born prospects starts at Noon with a scrimmage game at 7 p.m. The Blades will open their pre-season schedule on Tuesday when they take on the Prince Albert Raiders at 1 p.m. at the new Jim Neilson Memorial Complex on the Big River First Nation. Saskatoon starts the regular-season on Friday, September 23rd when they visit Prince Albert. Game time is 7 p.m. with CJWW’s broadcast beginning at 6:45 p.m. The Blades then host the Raiders on Saturday, September 24th for Saskatoon’s regular-season home opener at 7 p.m. at SaskTel Centre. CJWW’s broadcast starts at 6:45 p.m.

The Canadian Women’s Senior, Mid-Amateur and Mid-Master Golf Championships continue and wind up today in Winnipeg. The field of 95 golfers has been cut to __ for the third and final day of the 54-hole event. Individual titles will be determined in the Senior 55-and-over division, the 40-and-over Mid-Master division and the Mid-Amateur 25-and-over division. Among the Saskatchewan entrants are Maureen Bowerman of Saskatoon, Sue Skinner of Rosetown, Jo-Ann Schiller of Lloydminster and Tammy Bezaire of Togo.

The 2022 Curling Stadium Martensville International bonspiel starts today and runs through Monday in Martensville. There are 12 women’s teams and 10 men’s teams taking part with prize purses of 25-thousand dollars for the women and 22-thousand, 250 dollars on the men’s side. The 12 women’s squads are split into two pools of six teams each for preliminary play, followed by playoffs. The 10 men’s teams are split into two pools of five teams each for preliminary play, followed by playoffs. Among the women’s teams are those skipped by Nancy Martin of Saskatoon, Brett Barber of Biggar plus Ashley Howard and Lorraine Schneider, both of Regina. Among the men’s teams are those skipped by Colton Flasch, Steve Laycock, Kody Hartung and Dallan Muyres, all of Saskatoon. Draws today go at 5 and 8:30 p.m.
