The dangerous persons alert for Witchekan Lake First Nation issued by the Spiritwood RCMP has been cancelled after Kelly Witchekan was arrested in Saskatoon late yesterday (mon) evening.

Thirty-three-year-old Melvin Starblanket has not been located and while police continue the search for Melvin Starblanket, the public is advised to remain vigilant.

Starblanket hs black hair, brown eyes, he’s 5’9″ tall and 160 pounds. There is a photo in our online story.

The alert was issued after Spiritwood RCMP began investigating reports of shots fired on Witchekan Lake First Nation which is not connected to the situation at James Smith Cree Nation.

The emergency alert has been cancelled. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Melvin Starblanket is advised to report it to police immediately and in an emergency call 9-11.

The red Ford Mustang that was reported to be involved was also located and authorities say is not connected to the investigation.
