Seniors Critic Matt Love has written a letter to the provincial government demanding answers about reports of three deaths at Elmview Extended Care. The virus has infected every resident and numerous staff.

“The public was only made aware of the outbreak after staff blew the whistle,” Love said. “Covering up and downplaying the challenges facing our healthcare system is a pattern we see from (Health) Minister Merriman. We need transparency. We need answers.”

There are 11 other healthcare facilities in Regina with declared COVID-19 outbreaks, as well as many others across the province, according to Tracy Zambory, president of the Saskatchewan Union of Nurses.

An outbreak is declared when two or more people test positive for COVID-19.
