The SARS-CoV-2 viral RNA load in wastewater remains high in the most recent measurements for Prince Albert, Saskatoon and North Battleford.

The variant being detected is 100 per cent Omicron but the subvariant that is most prevalent differs between the three centres.  BA.5 makes up 41.8 per cent of the virus in North Battleford.  BA.2 makes up 69.7 per cent of the viral load in Prince Albert and for Saskatoon BA.5 is also showing the strongest presence at 47.7 per cent.

In Prince Albert overall the viral load is up the most, by 66.2 per cent.  Saskatoon has seen a 1.6 per cent increase and in North Battleford the viral RNA load in wastewater is up 12.4 per cent.  The measurements are based on a reporting period that is compared to the weekly average of the previous week.  For Saskatoon and North Battleford, the numbers tracked are the fourth highest value observed during the pandemic.  For Prince Albert it is the third highest value of COVID-19 RNA detected in wastewater.
