(Ahead of Her Majesty The Queen’s State Funeral, a new photograph has been released. The photo was taken to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee – the first British Monarch to reach this milestone.)

The final hymn has been sung in St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle. The Imperial State Crown and the Sovereign’s orb and sceptre were removed from the top of Queen Elizabeth’s coffin by the Crown Jeweller, This signifies the separation of the Queen from her crown for the final time. And then those in attendance at St. George’s Chapel closed out the service with God Save the King.
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police led the way during Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral procession today from Westminster Abbey.
The four officers were riding horses that the RCMP have gifted to The Queen over the years. As Queen of Canada, Her Majesty was the Commissioner-in-Chief of the RCMP.
The first horse ever gifted to the Queen by the RCMP was reportedly her favorite horse. Burmese was foaled at Fort Walsh, trained in Saskatchewan and a statue of the Queen with Burmese graces the Legislature grounds in Regina.
Three of these horses were ridden by Princes Charles and William, as well as Princess Anne during The Queen’s 96th birthday parade in April.
“Service in life, hope in death” were words from this morning’s funeral for Britain’s longest reigning monarch.
Thousands lined the procession route in the same vein as the thousands who visited her coffin as the Queen was laying in state for four days. King Charles and other members of the Royal family walked behind the coffin to Westminster Abbey. This will be the first time a monarch’s funeral has been held there since 1760, but funerals for the Queen’s Mother and Princess Diana were held in the abbey – Diana’s in 1997 and the Queen Mother’s in 2002.

Following the funeral, her coffin was brought through London’s streets to Wellington Arch near Hyde Park. It was placed in a hearse and driven to Windsor Castle for another procession before a committal service in St. George’s Chapel joining the coffin of her late husband Prince Philip at a crypt under the church.
