Saskatoon product Raina Owen will get a chance to do something next year that she couldn’t do in 2020.
The 20-year-old will be a member of Canada’s coaching staff at the Junior Roller Derby World Cup next July in France. Owen, known as “Raina Terror” as a player, was named to the Canadian squad as a player in 2020, only to have the World Cup be cancelled by the COVID-19 pandemic. September 21, 2022 — On September 3, Saskatoon Junior Roller Derby’s own coach and past player was named to the coaching staff of Team Canada Junior Roller Derby.
Junior Roller Derby World Cup
The Junior Roller Derby World Cup will be held in France in July 2023. Tryouts for Team Canada features skaters aged 13-18 from across the country who will be trying out for a place to represent Team Canada. Try-outs, which are conducted in person or via video submission, are open now and end November 11th.

20 year old Raina Owen will be headed to France in July 2023 as part of Canada’s Junior Roller Derby Team. Raina, who is also known as “Raina Terror” in roller derby circles, has been playing roller derby for 7 years. As a junior, Owen was selected as a member of Team Canada in 2020. Unfortunately, this was cancelled due to Covid. Now they have the opportunity for redemption as coach. Their love for derby began with Saskatoon Junior Roller Derby League, and they have since been playing with Saskatoon Roller Derby League, an adult league with players over 18.
