The Government of Saskatchewan has declared this week as Global Biotech week. It celebrates Biotechnology used to develop new crops and vaccines, while benefiting the agriculture industry. Ag west will run activities throughout the week educating people about Biotechnology. Agricultural Minister David Marit says Global Biotech week celebrates the work of researchers and raises awareness of the important role the sector plays in agriculture and the life sciences.

Biotechnology is an agricultural leader in Saskatchewan with around one third of Canadas Biotechnology produced in the Province. Saskatchewan joins regions in Canada and the World in celebration of Biotech week. Global Biotech week runs from September 26 to October 2nd.
