The Saskatoon Police Service has made its seventh arrest in the homicide investigation of Megan Gallagher, who has been missing for two years. On Tuesday, investigators arrested a 42 year old man at a correctional facility in Saskatoon, who was in jail on an unrelated sentence. Thomas Richard Sutherland is charged with unlawful confinement and aggravated assault. Police anticipate there will be more arrests in this investigation.
Four people are charged with indignity to human remains, and two people, Robert “Bobby” Thomas and Cheyann Crystal Peeteetuce are facing first degree murder charges.
The Police Service is also announcing a few more details about a planned search for Megan. In consultation with Forensic Anthropologist Dr. Ernie Walker and officials from the Water Security Agency, Saskatoon Police will be coordinating an extensive search of the South Saskatchewan River and its banks in the St. Louis area. Civilian search and rescue personnel, members of the Provincial Protective Services and specialized K9 teams from the Calgary Police Service will be assisting.
The four-day search begins tomorrow (Thurs). Because this is a search of a potential crime scene, the public is asked to avoid the area.
