Canadian Blood Services suggests giving a part of yourself for Thanksgiving, by making an appointment to donate blood, platelets, or plasma. CBS Community Development Manager for Saskatchewan, Aaron Barlow, understands this is a busy time of year with the kids back at school, long weekend activities and not too far away, the holiday season will be upon us, so blood donations aren’t top of mind. He notes that one in two Canadians will need blood or blood products in their lifetime, and one in two are eligible to donate, but only one in 81 does. Barlow reminds everyone that your time and your donation can make a lifesaving difference.
Cancer patients, accident victims, and people with rare, life-threatening, chronic, and genetic conditions rely on blood, platelets and plasma donations every day. You can book your appointment at blood.ca, through the GiveBlood app, or by calling 1-888-2 Donate.
