Keys to new homes were given Tuesday to a pair of Saskatoon families, thanks to Habitat for Humanity and investments from the provincial and federal governments.
The new residences for the families are in the Riversdale neighbourhood, both being about 960 square feet or 89.19 square metres in size, with four bedrooms in a semi-detached building. The Government of Canada provided $32.4 million to Habitat for Humanity Canada and its affiliate organizations, including Habitat for Humanity Saskatchewan, while the Saskatchewan Housing Corporation (S-H-C) provided $253,000 in funding through the federal/provincial Investment in Affordable Housing Agreement and the Summit Action Fund. Saskatoon Riversdale M-L-A Marv Friesen, provincial Minister Responsible for S-H-C Gene Makowsky and federal Minister of Housing and Diversity and Inclusion, Ahmed Hussen, joined Habitat for Humanity representatives and community members in handing out the keys to the new homes.
