There’s a timely reminder for hunters from the RCMP. Over the long weekend, there was a theft of a firearm in northeast Saskatchewan and a theft of hunting equipment reported in Yorkton. Both thefts were from unoccupied vehicles.
The RCMP reminds hunters not to leave firearms unattended in a vehicle especially overnight. They suggest that even if the guns are out of sight within the vehicle, that with other hunting equipment inside, it may lead a potential thief to believe there is a gun inside and they’d be willing to smash a window to find out.
As well, only take as many firearms as you are willing to carry with you to hunt, always use trigger locks and secure firearms cases and remember that it is illegal to leave a loaded gun in a vehicle.
