Saskatchewan residents will be receiving more frequent reports on respiratory illnesses in the near future, and they won’t be just about COVID-19.

The Ministry of Health released a Community Respiratory Illness Surveillance Program (CRISP) Situation Report Thursday with future reports coming out on a bi-weekly basis, instead of monthly as has been the case during the novel coronavirus pandemic.

The CRISP Situation Report will include data on influenza and other respiratory illnesses during, what the Ministry describes as, “respiratory illness season.”

When it comes to COVID-19, since the last report on September 11, the key statistics were on a roller-coaster, up and down, trend week-by-week.

There were 1,987 positive cases of COVID-19 in the province with 39 virus-related deaths, 695 cases were admitted to Saskatchewan hospitals, including 33 infections in an I-C-U plus 56 COVID-19 outbreaks were reported in the province between September 11-October 8.
