Burnaby RCMP is thanking the public for their patience and understanding as processions continue for fallen officer Cst. Shaelyn Yang.
There have been two first responder processions to honour the thirty-one-year-old since her death on Tuesday. There was another procession last night as an escort of first responder vehicles left the Burnaby Hospital going to Surrey and there will be one more procession this afternoon as the escort proceeds to Richmond.
RCMP say these processions have allowed partner agencies from across the Lower Mainland to honour Cst. Yang and show support for the Burnaby RCMP, while ensuring Cst. Yang is accompanied as she makes her way to her final resting place.
A suspect has been charged in the stabbing death of the Burnaby RCMP officer who was part of the Mental Health and Homeless Outreach Team. One man was shot when Constable Yang was attacked while responding to a complaint relating to a transient camp in Burnaby. Jongwon Ham of Burnaby survived and is charged with First Degree Murder.
