The Saskatoon Fire Department was called to a fire in the 3000 block of Miners Avenue a few minutes after four this morning where a semi was on fire, partially parked inside a building with the overhead door open.
When fire crews arrived, they saw a semi fully involved in fire and began extinguishing the blaze immediately. There was heavy smoke in the building and using a pay- loader on site fire crews worked to ensure the fire was completely put out.
The Fire Investigator has ruled the fire accidental resulting from a failure with a battery located on the outside below the passenger door and damage is estimated at $400,000.
Fire officials say the automatic sprinkler system activated inside the building when the fire started and prevented it from becoming a much bigger fire. No one was hurt.
