British Columbia RCMP say the funeral for slain officer Cst. Shaelyn Yang will be Wednesday, November 2nd at 11 a.m. in Richmond. Planning is underway and a statement from the family is expected in the coming days.
If you would like to send condolences to the family, the RCMP has an email address for that purpose: (RCMP.Condolences-Condoleances.GRC@rcmp-grc.gc.ca) The messages will be forwarded to Cst. Yang’s family and to the Burnaby RCMP Detachment.
A news release from the B.C. RCMP says they are grateful for the significant outpouring of public support and condolences. It was October 18th that Yang was fatally stabbed in the line of duty while responding to a homeless camp at a park in Burnaby. In a statement that day, Deputy Commissioner Dwayne McDonald said, “The loss of Shaelyn will be felt by so many. Her death impacts her family, friends, the wider RCMP family, and the vulnerable community she so passionately served. Her loss is immeasurable.”
