The Saskatchewan RCMP issued a news release around 6:30 Wednesday evening indicating the highway had reopened.  There were no details provided as to what transpired.

Maidstone RCMP are advising the public that Highway #16 between Marshall and Lashburn is closed.

There have been multiple motor vehicle collisions which have created smoke that is severely reducing visibility.

As of 6:30 a.m. this morning traffic was backed up and detours were in the process of being established.  Motorists are advised to find alternate routes.

RCMP do not know how long it will take to complete the investigation and resume normal traffic flow.
