There was an officer involved shooting in Saskatoon yesterday evening and one man is dead.

Saskatoon Police were called out to the area of 35th Street West and Avenue E North around 5:45 p.m. to answer a call about a person in a home firing a gun. When police arrived officers heard shots being fired and the area was immediately cordoned off. It was a multi-residential building and both Patrol and the Tactical Support Unit moved inside to secure the safety of the other building occupants.

Police say they were confronted by an armed male suspect which is when the fatal shooting occurred.

No members of the Saskatoon Police Service were injured. The Regina Police Service with assistance from the Saskatchewan Serious Incident Response Team will investigate the police involved fatal shooting. Saskatoon Police Service has also requested two independent observers.
