The impacts of trauma on individuals, families the workplace and the community – that’s what a two-day conference in Saskatoon next week is about. One of the organizers, Registered Social Worker, Treena Wynes, says the Tackling Trauma conference features presentations from mental health and professional counselling agencies, First Nations leaders and trauma experts. The keynote speakers are an expert in trauma, Dr. Christine Gibson, Cowessess First Nation Chief Cadmus Delorme who will speak on community trauma and Dr. Margaret McKinnon’s topic is how the pandemic has affected health care professionals and how to address the traumatic events of the pandemic and the demand on health care workers.
Wynes says her goal is that people leave the conference feeling they have some tools and information they can use in the professional lives and in their personal lives. For more information about the conference coming up November 2nd and 3rd, click here.
