The Regina Police Service is looking for help to obtain witness statements or video evidence in the officer-involved shooting in Saskatoon last Friday in the 1300 block of Avenue E North. Anyone with information or video believed to be relevant is asked to contact the Regina Police at 306-777-6500.
Saskatoon’s Police Chief stated on Friday that the Guns and Gangs Unit became aware that a 36 year old man wanted by La Loche RCMP was at an apartment on Avenue E North and was armed with a gun. He had removed his electronic monitoring device. Officers reported that the man pointed his gun at them both inside and outside the building. Police made entry into the home in an attempt to ensure the safety of the other occupants, and that’s when they were confronted by the suspect and the fatal shooting occurred. The shooting prompted an independent process of investigation and oversight, and that’s where the Regina Police Service comes in.
