Meadow Lake RCMP say the local high school and nearby college were briefly put in hold and secure mode after a report of shots fired. This was last Friday around 9:45 pm. No suspect or firearm was located in the area. But that report comes on the heels of another report the night before, around 11 p.m., of shots fired along Highway 4 by Meadow Lake.

Meadow Lake RCMP say the investigation is ongoing to determine the source of the reports of shots being fired and anyone with information is asked to contact the detachment.

Meanwhile, also last Friday night, officers from the Meadow Lake detachment and RCMP Police Dog services were conducting patrols in the community when they located a vehicle speeding through a residential area. The suspect hit another vehicle and someone in the suspect vehicle got on and took off on foot.

A suspect was located, allegedly told officers he was armed, an attempt was made to arrest the man, but police say that a conducted energy weapon had to be deployed when the suspect continued to resist arrest.

Twenty-six-year-old Austin Lafond of Green Lake has been charged with 14 Criminal Code offences, in addition to breaching his conditional sentence order.
