Snowfall warnings continue across the province mostly to the north stretching from Meadow Lake Through Big River, La Ronge, including Prince Albert, Shellbrook, Duck Lake and northeast to Creighton. A long period of snowfall with total amounts of 15 to 30 cm continues early Thursday morning. The heaviest snow is falling along a band between Meadow Lake through to Prince Albert early this morning. The snow will taper off later in the morning.
All highways out of North Battleford are closed and to the west, where the closures end, it is travel not recommended. Travel is not recommended on secondary highways around Humboldt. On Highway 16 from Langham to Maymont it is travel not recommended and then the highway is closed. Highways northwest of Kindersley, around Biggar and those coming from Lloydminster are travel not recommended. Highway 55 from Shellbrook to Green Lake is travel not recommended.
There are no details but shortly before 9:30 last night Esterhazy RCMP were advising the public of a serious motor vehicle collision at the west end of Churchbridge on Hwy #16. The highway was expected be closed for a significant amount of time while police complete their investigation.
Something to keep in mind as the morning commute gets underway, Saskatoon Police Service, dealing with the drive home last night, responded to multiple collisions throughout the city as a result of the icy roads. Some of the areas that were problematic included Gordie How Bridge, Highway 11, Highway 12, Circle Drive and Lorne Avenue. Police also remind motorists that speed limits are based on ideal road conditions and conditions this morning are not ideal.
