The City of Saskatoon says crews are ready for the Alberta Clipper coming through this weekend. The combination of freezing rain, heavy snow, high winds and dropping temperatures makes for slippery roads and sidewalks, visibility issues and possibly snow drifts on outlying streets, so crews will be salting and sanding as required, with plows and graders clearing priority streets as the snow begins.
The City says in a news release the priority while it snows is to keep the driving lanes clear along Circle Drive and the busiest freeway and arterial streets. Then, when the storm has blown through and the lanes are graded on the priority streets, crews will move to priority 2 and 3 streets, and if more snow falls, it’s back to the priority 1 streets. Transit service may be impacted by the road conditions, so the City urges riders to check the Transit App or real-time bus tracking through Google Maps.
