Thirty-nine people died from COVID over the past two weeks according to the latest epidemiological report from the Saskatchewan Ministry of Health.
Twenty-two of the deaths occurred between October 30th to November 5th with seventeen from October 23rd to 29th. The number of confirmed COVID cases declined to 600 last week compared to 800 during the previous week.
There were no deaths caused by influenza—-but the number of cases rose sharply to 192, close to triple the number from the previous week. Sixty-one percent of flu cases were in young people under the age of 20 with the highest positivity rates in the Melfort, Prince Albert and La Ronge areas. The Ministry of Health says only 15 percent of residents have received their flu shot.

Last week, there were 164 people being treated for COVID in hospital with 15 in Intensive Care. There were 16 hospital admissions for influenza with four in ICU.
