For 7,868 mostly Saskatoon fans, Sunday was perfect at SaskTel Centre!
The large majority had their curiosity quenched about Connor Bedard as the Regina superstar scored a goal and added an assist, but the Blades more than overcame his production as Jayden Wiens (pictured) scored a pair of power play goals to pace the Bridge City Bunch to a 5-2 triumph over the Pats. Austin Elliott made 32 saves for his seventh straight goaltending victory while the Blue and Gold improved to 14-4-0 for the season. Trevor Wong, Lukas Hansen and Vaughn Watterodt also tallied as the Blades won their third straight game. Bedard’s two-point game extended his points streak to 19 games and his seventh consecutive multi-point contest. The 17-year-old consensus first overall choice for the 2023 N-H-L Draft leads the W-H-L with 18 goals, 25 assists and 43 points. However, Regina is 9-9-2 for the season as Sunday’s game was the first of 10 straight on the road. Saskatoon is off until Friday when they host the Medicine Hat Tigers at 7 p.m. Following is the official game summary courtesy the W-H-L, the audio highlights from CJWW’s broadcast and Post-Game Show conversations with head coach Brennan Sonne, Wiens and Hansen…..
