A woman from Onion Lake Cree Nation facing a charge of first degree murder in the death of Tiki Laverdiere back in 2019 has been sentenced. Soaring Eagle Whitstone is one of ten others charged in the Edmonton woman’s death.
Laverdiere was reported missing in May of 2019, after having attended a funeral in the Battlefords area. Her body was found two months later.
Whitstone is sentenced to life with no parole for 25 years. She was also found guilty of interfering with human remains and sentenced to two years, and 90 days for vehicle theft, to run concurrent with the life sentence.
