The bitter cold is a continuation of the below normal temperatures reported during much of November.

Environment Canada says several centres—-including Saskatoon, Prince Albert, North Battleford, Swift Current, Moose Jaw and Regina—all had a monthly mean average temperature that was 2.7 to 3.4 degrees below normal. Meantime, locations like La Ronge and Key Lake in northern Saskatchewan had normal temperatures in November.

A few central areas had above normal precipitation last month including Swift Current, North Battleford and Prince Albert. Saskatoon reported 68 percent of normal precipitation as we were on the edge of a couple snow events in November.

Environment Canada meteorologist Terri Lang also compiled weather statistics for the September-October-November period. She notes it was very dry over a large portion of Saskatchewan, especially during September and October.

Temperatures over the September-October-December period were slightly above average for central and southern areas with the north being above normal.
