For about seven hours on Sunday morning, Highway 16 was closed and traffic was rerouted, after an SUV and train collided just west of Elstow. Saskatoon RCMP responded around 7:40 in the morning. The SUV was heading east when it collided with the CP Rail train. A 43 year old woman from Warman was declared dead on the scene by EMS. Emergency responders included the CP police, the local fire department, EMS and a RCMP Traffic Collision Reconstructionist. The Saskatchewan Coroners Service also attended and ordered an autopsy, and the investigation continues.

Then, that evening just before 7:30, Kamsack RCMP were told of a vehicle-pedestrian accident on Highway 8 on Cote First Nation. The initial investigation has determined an SUV hit a pedestrian who was walking on the road. The 31 year old man from Cote First Nation was declared dead at the scene. The investigation continues. Anyone who may have information about this collision or who saw the man walking on or around Highway 8 just before 7:20 Sunday night is asked to contact the Kamsack RCMP.
