SaskPower customers will see an average three per cent increase on their bills as of January 1st. The Crown Corporation says that’s because the federal carbon tax is increasing from $50 to $65 per tonne. To cover that increase, SaskPower is enacting a system-wide average increase of three per cent.
This is separate from the previous rate increase of four per cent which cam into effect on September 1st. President and CEO, Rupen Pandya, says SaskPower is moving toward a low-carbon future while also providing reliable electricity for a growing province, and at the same time trying to keep rates as low as possible.
