A Saskatoon man, who was on statutory release stemming from multiple firearm charges in 2021 in Saskatoon, only to become unlawfully at large and wanted on a Canada-Wide Warrant issued by Correctional Services Canada, has been re-arrested.

Twenty-five-year-old Nathan Kakum will appear in Saskatoon Provincial Court on January 17 with the additional charges of resisting arrest, assault of a police officer and failure to comply with a condition of a release order. The Saskatchewan R-C-M-P Warrant Enforcement and Suppression Team (WEST) started an investigation into locating Kakum in early December.

On December 13th, in conjunction with Saskatchewan R-C-M-P Major Crimes, R-C-M-P WEST were able to track down Kakum at a Saskatoon apartment building. When he tried to escape out of a window, W-E-S-T contained the area and were able to arrest Kakum with assistance from the Saskatoon Police Service, but not before he allegedly assaulted one of the officers while resisting arrest. R-C-M-P W-E-S-T operates out of Saskatoon, Meadow Lake and Prince Albert.
