The two-week update on COVID-19, influenza and RSV released today by the provincial government includes 21 deaths where the person tested positive for COVID between December 4th and the 17th and there were three deaths from the flu. Of the people with COVID who died, four were in the 20 to 59 age group and the rest were 60 or older. Sixteen of the COVID-related deaths were in the first week and five in the second week.
In the week leading up to December 17th, 105 people were in the hospital with COVID including four in an ICU. There were 37 hospital admissions for influenza, including four in an ICU and 37 people with RSV, with one person in an ICU.
The province says lab-confirmed cases and test positivity decreased in the last reporting period for both COVID-19 and influenza but RSV activity is rising, from 83 to 149 cases.
