Many have been trying to find alternate plans for the holidays after flight delays and cancellations.

Sunwing says on its website that as a result of the severe weather experienced this week in Vancouver, some of its planes and crew are stranded there. That has meant cancelling some southbound flights from Western Canada for select departures up to and including December 25th. Sunwing is advising affected customers or their travel agents. The airline has cancelled flights in Saskatoon, Regina, Winnipeg, Calgary, Edmonton and Kelowna. Travellers should check the airline’s website for update information.

Saskatoon’s airport says on social media, “Weather in other parts of the country continues to affect arriving and departing flights from Saskatoon. We encourage travellers to check in from home and confirm the latest flight details with their airline before coming to the airport.”

Air Canada has posted on social media that the airline has implemented a flexible policy permitting customers to make flight changes or receive vouchers for future travel. There were more flight disruptions today. At Vancouver International Airport, 146 flights scheduled to take off were cancelled, and with another winter storm coming in, with both snow and freezing rain in the forecast, there are expected to be more.

WestJet says it is monitoring multiple weather systems and anticipates further weather impacts in the coming days. Some flights in Vancouver and southern British Columbia, Ontario and Quebec were cancelled today.
