A snow fall warning is now in effect stretching from The Battlefords and Meadow Lake across to Saskatoon and surrounding communities.

And a special weather statement has been issued for an area encompassing Kindersley-Rosetown south to the Cypress Hills and across to Assiniboia-Gravelbourg with an Alberta low pressure system moving in tonight bringing mixed precipitation to the southwest corner of the province including ice pellets and freezing rain that transition to light snow Sunday morning accompanied by winds out of the northwest gusting up to 70 to 80 km/h.

Meanwhile, Saskatchewan RCMP say visibility has now improved in southwest Saskatchewan where conditions were so poor last night that the RCMP provided warm up shelter locations in Maple Creek and Gull Lake for anyone travelling. The RCMP says this holiday weekend if you become stranded on the highway, do not leave your vehicle – other motorists may not be able to see you in adverse conditions. Make sure your tailpipe remains clear of ice and snow, or carbon monoxide could potentially seep into your vehicle

Before you travel in winter weather, ensure your vehicle has lots of fuel, you have extra warm clothes, snacks, water and a snow shovel on hand.  They suggest traction mats, a tow rope or chain and a booster cable are also great to keep in your vehicle, as well as a spare phone charger.

The extreme cold warning has ended for Melfort, Tisdale, Nipawin, Hudson Bay and Porcupine Plain regions.
