The SARS-CoV-2 viral RNA load in Saskatoon’s wastewater has increased 85.8 percent in the most recent reporting period. Researchers at the University of Saskatchewan say the increase in viral RNA in wastewater shows that the infection in Saskatoon isn’t over yet.

In Prince Albert the RNA load in P.A.’s wastewater has decreased by 44.4 per cent. In North Battleford it has decreased by 60.4 per cent. COVID-19 in all three cities is a version of the Omicron variant.

Dr. John Giesy says as usual Prince Albert and the Battlefords are out of phase with Saskatoon and are still declining from the previous wave. As well, the COVID-19 infections are being driven by the Omicron BQ.1 variant.
