The Swift Current RCMP Detachment is warning about dangerous illicit drugs in the area. Officers responded to two fatal overdoses involving suspected fentanyl over three days. A 30 year old man died on Thursday the 29th and on the 31st, a 27 year old man died.

Police say the two didn’t consume the same substance. One was a green powder. The other had clear or white crystals. They didn’t look like regular fentanyl and may not have been sold as fentanyl, however police field tests detected fentanyl in the drugs.

RCMP advice anyone who takes illicit drugs to use special precautions which include never using alone, let someone you trust know of your plans, carry a Naloxone kit which are available free of charge across the province and call 911 if you suspect an overdose is occurring.
