The issue isn’t just around the inefficiency and lack of convenience, but connectivity and cost are going to be very big issues for Saskatchewan. That from the CEO of the Greater Saskatoon Chamber of Commerce as they continue to urge the public to download a template letter it has created and send it off to Air Canada to express concerns over the air carrier’s decision to drop direct flights between Calgary and Saskatchewan.
Jason Aebig says as the region’s largest air services hub, Calgary has traditionally played a very significant role in helping Saskatoon business and leisure travellers reach their domestic and international destinations. He says even if smaller air carriers step in to fill the void, as they are already learning through convention and conference planners in Saskatoon, if it’s not a smooth process they will look elsewhere to centers where the connectivity exists, and the cost is lower for the delegates they are trying to assemble.
