Official Opposition Leader Carla Beck’s says Saskatchewan’s Premier should have taken the opportunity to promote the potential of the province’s rare earth elements and advocate for more investment instead of making the story about his politics.

Scott Moe said this morning he is disappointed the federal government didn’t notify the province that the Prime Minister was visiting the rare earth metals facility in Saskatoon. He said rare earth metals is an area the provincial and federal governments see eye-to-eye on and suggested he was hopeful the Prime Minister would have positive news including about provincial applications before Natural Resources Canada.

Vital Metals is Canada’s first rare earths miner and producer, and shares support services with the Saskatchewan Research Council for its project. The fully integrated, three-stage Rare Earth Processing Facility will be the first of its kind in North America and will be producing products for sale in the international market in 2024.

Carla Beck says the province needs to get back to telling the world of the potential in Saskatchewan in a positive and constructive way to both national and international audiences. She says what she is hearing is that people have grown tired of politicians at all levels stoking division in order to “score political points instead of working together to achieve real results for the people they represent.”
