A three-week investigation by officers from the Beauval and Meadow Lake R-C-M-P detachments has resulted in the arrest of two men on various weapons and drug-related charges.

Twenty-seven-year-old Hubert Cardinal of Canoe Lake and 40-year-old Edwin Corrigal of Prince Albert were identified as suspects following a report of two men wearing masks and is possession of a firearm and a machete threatening occupants of a bar in Beauval. There were no injuries reported in the incident that occurred on December 14, but wasn’t reported until December 23.

The investigation took officers to the Canoe Lake Cree Nation. Corrigal was arrested without incident on January 13 in the backyard of a residence in the 200 block of Primrose East. He was found in possession of a loaded sawed-off shot gun (pictured above), a machete (pictured below), seven individual bags of crack cocaine hidden in a plastic egg container (pictured below), an additional seven grams of crack cocaine wrapped in foil (pictured below), about 11 grams of marijuana and a sum of cash.

While Cardinal was also believed to be in that residence, he wasn’t found until January 15 when officers returned to the residence and located a black van that they had seen when Corrigal was arrested. Two occupants of the van were instructed to exit and Cardinal was found in the back of the vehicle, hiding under blankets, and was arrested. Both Cardinal and Corrigal face multiple charges and will be in Meadow Lake court on Tuesday, February 7 at 1:30 p.m.
