On Tuesday at 7:40 p.m. the Saskatoon Fire Department responded to a fire in a basement suite in the 1600 block of Prince of Wales Avenue.

Firefighters could see smoke showing from the building in Saskatoon’s North Park neighbourhood when they arrived.

One person was inside looking for their pet and was evacuated by fire crews.

A small fire was found in the basement suite on the stove and was quickly extinguished. It was a burnt pot but there were no injures to any persons, firefighters or pets in the fire.

The cause of the fire is accidental and unattended cooking resulted in $20,000 in damage. Smoke alarms alerted occupants to the fire.
